Give timber a distressed finish
Give timber a distressed finish by rubbing wax over the areas that would naturally become worn over time, such as along the edges or over handles, before painting.

The waterproofing properties of the wax prevent paint from adhering smoothly to give the worn effect.

Apply two coats of semi gloss enamel, leaving it to dry completely then scrape the paint from the waxed areas.
