How to motivate your child to exercise

1. Switch off the television and join your kids outside. Kick a ball, go for a walk, play Twister, sing songs, identify birds… anything other than video games or television is great!
2. Support your kids’ choice of outdoor activities and always praise them for their efforts. It will make them want to keep exercising.
3. Give gifts that encourage them to be active – skipping ropes, bikes, skateboards, hula hoops...
4. Be a positive role model. Make exercise part of your daily life – whether it’s walking the dog, walking to the shops or playing a sport. Kids learn by example.
