How to Throw a Green Party

Whether it's a wedding, a product launch or simply an informal affair, there are easy measures you can take to make your event environ-mentally friendly.

Secure the spot. Pick a location such that most guests can arrive on foot or by public transit – or at least without a long car ride.

Send out e-invitations. It saves the paper of printed invites.

Serve local cuisine. Base your menu on fresh, locally grown foods.

Avoid disposable plates and cutlery. Rent dinnerware or, for a small group, simply use your own.

Dazzle with the right light. Efficiency is the key. A daylight event is ideal, but if it's after dark, use compact fluorescent lighting.

Make recycling easy. Set up labelled bins in convenient locations so guests can separate trash easily.
