HOW THE READER’S DIGEST 27TH SUPER CONTEST WORKS

 

  1. The Super Contest is open to residents of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Africa aged 18 years or older only who receive or access marketing communications via email, mail, telephone or online from Reader’s Digest (the “Promoter”) during the promotional period. These prize Contests are presented in conjunction with various product offers from the Promoter and its licensees or partners and open on 1 January 2013 and close at midnight local time of the participating countries on 31 December 2013. Employees of Reader's Digest and its agencies, its partners or licensees, and their immediate families up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity, are not eligible to participate in this draw.
  2. Eligibility for entry to the prize Contests offered is dependent upon replying in accordance with the conditions and instructions in the accompanying promotional material. Multiple entries are permitted provided each entry is on an original Reader’s Digest entry form. No facsimiles or copies are permitted. In some cases where it will not be necessary to return an entry form to participate, specific mention will be made of that fact in the promotional material. When website or telephone entry is offered, entries may be submitted by following the instructions in the promotional material. Entries must be received by the Super Contest closing date. A specific deadline as instructed applies to certain prizes including the Super Bonus Prize and, based on relevant local postal guidelines, the Promoter allows one week for delivery and one week for return in addition to any deadline stated. The Promoter will accept no responsibility for entries which become lost or damaged, or delayed in transit. All eligible entries will qualify as finalists and have a fair and equal chance to win.
  3. All prizes are guaranteed to be awarded. Throughout the Super Contest, the Promoter will conduct up to 24 bonus increase offers. Bonus increase offers will only be sent to selected entrants. If an entrant receives a 'bonus increase' offer and responds to the material as directed, in the event that they are judged as the winner of the prize to which the 'bonus increase' offer applies, they will receive the set prize plus the bonus outlined in the material (which could be up to double the original prize value). The decision to increase any cash prize value and the amount of the increase will be totally at the discretion of the Promoter and will be indicated in the promotional material for the relevant prize Contest. If an increased prize value has been advertised to a winning entrant, the Promoter will award that entrant the increased prize value, as advertised. For all other activities a winning entry will receive the stated prize value without the increase. In the case of any unclaimed cash prize, only the original cash prize (i.e. the cash prize without any bonus increase) will be distributed.
  4. There shall be one (1) Super Grand Prize Winner and two hundred (200) Appreciation Prize Winners. Prizes are not transferable.
  5. Based on past Sweepstakes, the approximate odds of winning a prize with each entry are as follows: the Grand Prize: 1 in 2,100,000, the Super Bonus: 1 in 2,000,000, a Citizen Watch prize: 1 in 21,500.
  6. At the end of the Contest period, all eligible entries will be entered into the contest. If the potential winner is a Malaysian resident, he or she will be required to answer unaided a time-limited, skill-testing question by telephone before the prize can be claimed. The first selected candidate will be contacted by phone and is required to answer a skill-testing question correctly to win the Super Grand Prize. If he/she fails to correctly answer the question, the next selected contestant will have the chance to win. The skill-testing question will be selected by the Promoter’s contest judges and all question and answer sessions will be carried out under the supervision of an independent professional. All sessions will be recorded and all contest participants must agree to have their session recorded if they are selected and called.
  7. The Promoter, will determine the appointed dates and times, to call the selected Contest participants at his or her latest telephone number maintained in the Promoter’s records. The Promoter shall not be held responsible for calls made to the Contest participants that are (i) not completed or disconnected due to any reasons whatsoever (ii) not answered or proceeded with due to the unavailability of Contest participant at the appointed date and time and /or due to any other whatsoever reasons. It shall be the Contest participants ' responsibility to ensure that their phone numbers provided are current and updated with the Promoter at all times. All decisions with respect to this contest and the selection of the winner(s) are final and will be determined by an impartial panel of judges in the presence of an independent professional.
  8. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these rules or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. Incomplete, indecipherable, inaudible or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.
  9. All aspects of the administration of this promotion are under the responsibility of Reader's Digest Asia Pte. Ltd.
  10. The winners will be notified by registered mail and email and results will be published in The Star in Malaysia; the Straits Times in Singapore; the Philippine Daily Inquirer in The Philippines; the Krungthep Thurakij in Thailand; the South China Morning Post and the Apple Daily in Hong Kong; the United Daily News in Taiwan; The Sunday Times in South Africa and on the Promoter’s website at www.rdasia.com no later than 17 January 2014. A full list of winners will be available upon written request after 17 January 2014.   11. Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Contest (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.

 

 

HOW THE THANK YOU PRIZE & PREFERRED CUSTOMER BONUS WORK

 

  1.   7. The Promoter, will determine the appointed dates and times, to call the selected Contest participants at his or her latest telephone number maintained in the Promoter’s records. The Promoter shall not be held responsible for calls made to the Contest participants that are (i) not completed or disconnected due to any reasons whatsoever (ii) not answered or proceeded with due to the unavailability of Contest participant at the appointed date and time and /or due to any other whatsoever reasons. It shall be the Contest participants ' responsibility to ensure that their phone numbers provided are current and updated with the Promoter at all times. All decisions with respect to this contest and the selection of the winner(s) are final and will be determined by an impartial panel of judges in the presence of an independent professional.

Reader’s Digest reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these rules or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at Reader’s Digest's discretion. Failure by Reader’s Digest to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. Incomplete, indecipherable, inaudible or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.

The winner will be notified by registered mail and email and results will be published in The Star in Malaysia; the Straits Times in Singapore; the Philippine Daily Inquirer in The Philippines; the Krungthep Thurakij in Thailand; the South China Morning Post and the Apple Daily in Hong Kong; the United Daily News in Taiwan; The Sunday Times in South Africa and the Promoter’s website on www.rdasia.com no later than 15 October 2013. A full list of winners will be available upon written request after 15 October 2013. Please send the request together with a self-addressed envelope to the Contest Department, Reader’s Digest, P.O. Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Contest (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.

 

 

HOW THE CELEBRATION SURPRISE CONTEST WORKS

 

  1. The Celebration Surprise Contest is open to residents of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Africa aged 18 years or older only who receive or access marketing communications via email, mail, telephone or online from Reader’s Digest (the “Promoter”) during the promotional period. These prize Contests are presented in conjunction with various product offers from the Promoter and its licensees or partners and open on 1 January 2013 and close at midnight local time of the participating countries on 13 Dec 2013. Employees of Reader's Digest and its agencies, its partners or licensees, and their immediate families up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity, are not eligible to participate in this draw.
  2. Eligibility for entry to the prize Contest offered is dependent upon replying with your order or payment in accordance with the conditions and instructions in the accompanying promotional material. Multiple entries are permitted provided each entry is on an original Reader’s Digest entry form. No facsimiles or copies are permitted. When website or telephone entry is offered, entries may be submitted by following the instructions in the promotional material. Entries must be received by the Contest’s closing date. Based on relevant local postal guidelines, Reader’s Digest allows one week for delivery and one week for return in addition to any deadline stated. Reader's Digest will accept no responsibility for entries which become lost or damaged, or delayed in transit. All eligible entries will qualify as finalists and have a fair and equal chance to win.
  3. There shall be one (1) Celebration Surprise Contest Winner.
  4. Based on past Sweepstakes, the approximate odds of winning a prize with each entry are as follows: the Celebration Surprise: 1 in 45,000.
  5. Reader’s Digest reserves the right to increase the value of the Big Bounty in one or more mailings. The decision to increase the prize value for a mailing will be totally at the discretion of Reader’s Digest and will be indicated in the promotional material for the affected mailing. Should the winning entry come from a mailing in which an increased prize value has been offered, Reader’s Digest will award the winner the increased prize value indicated in that mailing. For all other mailings a winning entry will receive the stated prize value without the increase.
  6. At the end of the Contest period, all eligible entries will be entered into the contest. If the potential winner is a Malaysian resident, he or she will be required to answer unaided a time-limited, skill-testing question by telephone before the prize can be claimed. The first selected candidate will be contacted by phone and is required to answer a skill-testing question correctly to win the Thank You Prize. If he/she fails to correctly answer the question, the next selected contestant will have the chance to win. The skill-testing question will be selected by the Promoter’s contest judges and all question and answer sessions will be carried out under the supervision of an independent professional.
