How can I obtain an entry into the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes?
A customer is not able to request entry into the Sweepstakes. According to our competition rules, names are chosen for participation and entry documents are then mailed to those selected.
Is the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes legitimate? I've never known anyone who has won.
Yes, the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes is legitimate. We award all prizes in every sweepstakes draw that we conduct. An independent auditor/lawyer will be supervising the procedures and verifies the whole process. After each draw we publish our winners online, just go to http://www.rdasia.com/winners for details.
I am a Reader's Digest customer, but I do not wish to receive sweepstakes material. How can I have my name removed from your sweepstakes mailing list?
To have your name removed from our promotions list, please contact us at (65) 6258-1111 (Mon-Fri 8:30am – 5:30pm) or you can email us.
I received two Sweepstakes entries, but there are different return dates. Which date is correct?
Both dates are correct, and each entry must be returned by the specified date in order to be eligible for a prize. Staggering return dates helps Reader's Digest manage the large number of entries received throughout the year. Each entry is an additional chance to win and each entry has an equal chance of winning.
Does Reader's Digest share its list of customer names with other mail order companies?
Occasionally Reader's Digest may make your name and address available to reputable companies whose products may be of interest to you. If you prefer not to receive promotional mailings from these companies, please contact us at (65) 6258-1111 (Mon-Fri 8:30am – 5:30pm) or email us.
I have never purchased anything from Reader's Digest, yet I recently received promotional material from your company. Where did you get my name?
Reader's Digest occasionally obtains mailing lists from a variety of sources. This process is compliant with privacy principles.
If you wish to prevent any further mail being sent to you, please send us an email. Please include your name and address details and reference number as they appear on the envelope label.
Why does Reader's Digest run prize giveaways?
Our prize draws are a way to thank our loyal customers for supporting us as a company. Every entry has a fair and equal chance to win, so the more opportunities you respond to, the more chances you have of winning. We find that our customers love the opportunity to win and offering incredible prizes helps showcase our fabulous product range as well. Customers don't have to buy anything to enter a draw, but because most people appreciate the chance to win, we throw in extra prize chances as a special bonus for shopping with us.
How do Reader's Digest Sweepstakes work?
Our Sweepstakes have been designed specifically to please you - our customer. We include the rules and operational dates of our Sweepstakes on every promotional mailing. Entry to the Sweepstakes is free and by invitation only. No purchase is required and every entry has the same chance of winning. Only entries received before the Sweepstakes closing date are eligible for the draw. Winning entries are randomly selected from all entries received (both YES and NO envelopes). The final draw is held in the presence of an independent auditor/lawyer.
How often do you hold Sweepstakes?
Every year, we come up with new prizes for you to win. We draw winning entries every 12 months for the main Sweepstakes, but hold special giveaways throughout the year that have been tailored to a particular offer. These extra prizes range from products to cars, or even CASH!
How much money is given away in Sweepstakes?
Taking into consideration the merchandise prizes as well as the cash, we will distribute over S$500,000.00 in our Sweepstakes and giveaways.
Are all Sweepstakes prizes given away?
We guarantee that every single prize allocated for a Sweepstakes is given away.
Will you contact me if I've won?
Most definitely! All Reader's Digest Sweepstakes winners are officially notified in writing.
Will the winners' names be published?
All major prize winners' names will be published in The Straits Times in Singapore; the Min Sheng Daily in Taiwan; the South China Morning Post and the Apple Daily in Hong Kong; and the Philippine Daily Inquirer in the Philippines as they are drawn. We also feature our major winners on our website.
Does Reader's Digest ever postpone the draws?
Never! A prize draw always takes place on the day that has been specified. A brand new Sweepstakes begins a few weeks before the old one closes, ensuring that nobody misses out on the chance to win. It is quite possible for people to receive entries into both the old and the new Sweepstakes during this overlap period.
Do I have to buy anything to be eligible to enter the Sweepstakes?
Your chances of winning are equally good whether you purchase a product or not. However, we do offer extra prizes for customers who say 'yes'. It's our way of rewarding those who purchase our products.
Am I better off if I buy a product?
While you can enter the main Sweepstakes - and have an equal chance of winning - by saying YES or NO, saying YES to our offer can bring you an extra chance to win in a special prize draw.
How can I prevent Sweepstakes Fraud?
Be wary of phone calls and SMS text messages saying you've won a prize and ask for cash deposit or transfers to claim the prize(s).
Reader's Digest advises all of their winners by registered mail. So if you receive a phone call or SMS text message saying you've won a prize, just ask one simple question: "Is it free?" If not, hang up.
Be suspicious if people ask you for money to claim a prize.
Swindlers often ask winners to prepay taxes, shipping and handling charges, a deposit or other bogus expenses. Don't do it. Reputable companies do not ask you to pay to claim your prize. Prizes are free.
Never give your credit card number to collect a prize or enter a Sweepstakes.
Some unreputable parties ask for this information as proof of your eligibility. Don't fall for this ruse. If you do, you'll likely find your plastic being used to subsidize a scam artist's spending spree.
Never send money to someone you don't know.
Con artists ask you to wire money or send it by overnight courier, or provide bank account information so they can debit your account. Don't do it. Never pay anything to receive a prize.
Read Sweepstakes information and entry rules carefully.
Be aware of closing dates, prize amounts and conditions limiting eligibility. Keep a sharp eye out for shady "look alike" promotions hoping to mislead you by mimicking legitimate Sweepstakes.
If you think you are the target or victim of a fraud, report it at once.
