According to a recent study on Teens, Social Media & Technology by the Pew Research Centre, the percentage of US teens (13 to 17 years old) who use Facebook fell from 71 per cent in 2015 to just 51 per cent this year.
 
That’s a dramatic dip from just three years ago when it was the platform of choice for kids that age.
 
Now that these teens have abandoned Facebook in droves, where have they moved to?

YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat are now the top three preferred social media spaces for teenagers.

85 per cent – Teens who use YouTube. The platform wasn’t included in the previous survey.
 
72 per cent – Teens who use Instagram, up from 52 per cent in the previous survey.
 
69 per cent – Teens who use Snapchat, up from 41 per cent in the previous survey.
 
Snapchat is also more popular with girls with 42 per cent saying it’s their most used site, while only 29 per cent of boys say the same.
