The Internet is a great place if you’re looking for knowledge and wisdom.

You can find out about pretty much anything, from learning to cook through videos, to taking online courses and getting useful advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Unfortunately, it’s also the place where the Keke Challenge started.

Also known as the ‘In My Feelings’ Challenge, this dance dare is the latest craze sweeping the world and the web.

However, it should come with a warning.

It all started innocently enough.

Comedian Shiggy (pictured above) posted a video on Instagram of himself dancing on the street to hip-hop artist Drake’s ‘In My Feelings’, where he mimed the lyrics of the song, including making a heart shape with his hands and pretending that he’s steering a car.

It’s important to note, though, that he was on solid ground at all times.

The name of the challenge comes from a line in the song: “Keke, do you love me/ Are you riding/ Say you’ll never, ever leave.”

Other people started trying to take things up a notch by posting videos of themselves doing the dance in more unconventional places – Hollywood actor Will Smith posted one where he was dancing on top of a bridge.

Before long, the challenge involved jumping out of a moving car!

Indeed, it is. In fact, there have been many injuries of varying degrees reported.

A Florida man who jumped out of a moving car slipped on a patch of oil and got hit by a car.

Many other videos show people getting into all sorts of scrapes and mishaps from slipping and falling to colliding with a lamp post.

The Keke Challenge is not just ill-advised, it can also get you in trouble with the law.

Malaysia’s Road Transport Authority has issued a warning that those who perform the challenge on roads and highways and end up endangering others will be dealt with.

Other countries are equally concerned.

Egypt has banned the dance challenge, while police in India, Abu Dhabi, Spain and the US, among others, have also warned people against it.

Mumbai police tweeted: “Not just a risk for you but your act can put life of others at risk too. Desist from public nuisance or face the music!”

Of course, this is not to say that you can’t dance to the song – just don’t do it in a dangerous manner.

Take a leaf out of this South Carolina dentist’s book – he’s had over 40 million views with his version, which has been called ‘In My Fillings’.

Not all viral challenges are bad.

The Ice Bucket Challenge, for example, which involved throwing a bucking of ice water on yourself, was a relatively harmless one, and it was for a good cause – to raise awareness and funds for ALS.

Unfortunately, for every Ice Bucket Challenge, there are many more harmful ones, such as the Tide Pod Challenge.

The dangerous stunt, which surfaced last year, involved young people biting into laundry detergent pods after being dared to do so.

Another dangerous prank is the Hot Water Challenge where young kids and teenagers throw boiling water on unsuspecting victims.

An Indiana teenager was a victim of such a dare and had to be hospitalised with second-degree burns.
