For the last six years (2004-2009), it was the men who walked away with the top prize in Reader’s Digest Super Contest in Malaysia. Now, it is the women’s turn to take top spot as they bag the two biggest prizes in the Reader’s Digest Malaysia 2010 Super Contest — the Super Grand Prize and the Customer Appreciation Prize.
Longtime Reader’s Digest magazine subscriber, Chen Kim Kee, believes in hope, patience and perseverance. “I always return my Contest documents as only then will I have a shot at making my dream of winning big a reality,” says Ms Chen who plans to donate some of her prize money to charity.
The same spirit of determination can also be seen in Lian Yee Von who kept on joining the Contest even though she had never won anything before — till now, of course. “I believe in making the effort first, and then hope for the best...it’ll come when it’s time.“ Well, come it certainly did for her — in the form of the RM145,000 Customer Appreciation Prize.
Both women received their winners’ cheque from Christopher Axberg, Managing Director of Reader’s Digest, at a lunch award ceremony on March 3, 2011. “The prize presentation event is the main highlight on our Contest calendar as it’s the time when we give away all the money that we promised in our Contest invitation documents to customers...it’s for all to see and be inspired to take part when they get the opportunity,” said Axberg.
In the words of Super Grand Prize winner Chen Kim Kee:
“Give yourself a chance...I did and I’m RM275,000 richer for it.”
After all, entry into the Super Contest is Free. So the next time you receive Contest invitations from Reader’s Digest, reply immediately. Remember, you got to be in it to win it. Who knows, this winners’ story next year could be about you winning over RM200,000!
