Caption Competition

  1. This competition is open to residents of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines only. All entries must be received no later than the last day of each competition month.
  2. The promotional material, information on how to enter and prize details form part of these terms and conditions. To be eligible to enter the competition, you must reply in accordance with the conditions specified in this promotion. Employees of Reader’s Digest and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter. Reader’s Digest shall not accept responsibility for lost, misdirected or delayed entries.
  3. The winner will be selected at the offices of Reader’s Digest, on or about the third day of the calendar month following the competition month.
  4. The best entry, as determined by the judges, will win $100. Total Number of prizes: 1. Total value of giveaway: $100.
  5. The prizewinner will be notified by email. If Reader’s Digest does not receive confirmation of acceptance of the prize within 30 days, the competition will be rejudged and a new winner announced.
  6. The promoter may use the entrants’ names, addresses and photographs for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes and by submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to this use. Promoters’ decisions on all matters pertaining to this competition are final.

Terms and Conditions:

The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  4. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. Each entry will be individually judged and the winners will be determined based on the originality and/or creativity of their entry.
  5. The best valid entries, as determined by the judges in their discretion, will be published in a future issue of Reader’s Digest, and the winning entrant will receive a special Limited Edition Nostalgia Notebook.
  6. The winners will be notified by email and published in a future issue of Reader’s Digest.
  7. All entries become the property of the Promoter. As a condition of entering into this promotion, each entrant agrees to assign all of their rights, title and interest (including copyright) in and to their entry to the Promoter. Each entrant warrants to the Promoter that each entry submitted is an original literary work of the entrant that does not infringe the rights of any third party. The entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against all costs and claims by third parties arising from a breach of this warranty. Entrants consent to any use of their entry which may otherwise infringe their moral rights pursuant to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). Reader’s Digest reserves the right to use entries in all print and electronic media.

The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, and prize suppliers. Entry is conditional on providing this information. The Promoter may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant. Entrants should direct any request to access, update or correct information to the Promoter.
  9. The Promoter’s decision on all matters pertaining to this promotion is final.

US$10,000 Jewellery Giveaway Lucky Draw 2024-25

1. Information on how to enter and the Reader’s Digest Jewellery Giveaway Lucky Draws and Prizes, form part of these Conditions of Entry. Entry into the Reader’s Digest Jewellery Giveaway Lucky Draws (Promotion) is deemed to be an acceptance of these Conditions of Entry.

2. The Promotion commences 12:00am SGT 1 April 2024 and closes 11.59 pm SGT 31 March 2025 (Promotion Period).

3. Entry is open to residents of Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Entrants under 18 years old must have parental/guardian approval to enter and further, the parent/guardian of the entrant must read and consent to these Conditions of Entry. Employees and the immediate families of the Promoter and organisations or agencies associated with or benefiting from the Promotion are ineligible to enter.

4. To enter the Promotion, entrants must place a qualifying order for subscription with the Promoter during the Promotion Period. A qualifying order is a 12 month/6 issues subscription or 24 month/12 issues subscription (new subscriptions, renewals of existing subscriptions, and gift subscriptions accepted). Each 12 month/6 issues of subscription equals one entry, which means that a 24 month/12 issues subscription will be two entries. Each additional subscription (for example gift subscription) will be treated as an additional entry. For example, one 12 month/6 issues subscription and one 12 month/6 issues gift subscription would be together two entries. Each qualifying order received by the Promoter will be entitled to a separate entry into each of the subsequent Promotion Draws conducted following the date of receipt of the qualifying order.

5. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible orders or entries will be deemed invalid. (Subject to local laws) where a qualifying order is subsequently cancelled by the entrant and/or a refund and return is processed for that order, the order will not be accepted an entry in the Promotion. Qualifying orders for gift subscriptions will be accepted as entries for the donor of the gift (the payer). Multiple entries are permitted provided that each entry is submitted with a separate qualifying order. Orders are deemed to be received at the time of receipt by the Promoter. Records of the Promoter are final and conclusive as to time of receipt and validity of the qualifying order and entry to the Promotion.

7. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of qualifying orders, entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any order, entry and/or any individual from entering the Promotion who the Promoter has reason to believe has not made a valid qualifying order, breached any of these Conditions of Entry, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the Promotion. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter’s discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved. If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.

8. There will be five (5) draws conducted for the Promotion (each a Promotion Draw). Each valid qualifying order received by the Promoter during the Promotion Period will be placed as a single entry into each of the Promotion Draws conducted after the date of receipt of the qualifying order. The first valid entry/s drawn electronically at random for each Promotion Draw will win the Prize/s for that Promotion Draw. Additional reserve entries will be drawn together in one single draw in case an invalid entry or winner does not claim the prize. Promotion Draws will take place in order of draw number, with Draw 1 the first draw, and Draw 5 the last (final) draw. Winners and non-winners of each Promotion Draw will be accumulated to the next Promotion Draw and all winners/non-winners will also be accumulated to the last (final) draw. For draws with more than one prize, winners will be determined in order of sequence of the drawn entry. Each of the Promotion Draws will take place at Direct Publishing Asia Pte Ltd, 1 Paya Lebar Link, Paya Lebar Quarter 1, #04-01 Singapore 408533. Winners will be notified by phone within two (2) business days of the relevant Promotion Draw (and if unable to be notified by phone, notified in writing to their advised email and/or delivery address within ten (10) business days of the Promotion Draw) and their Prize will be issued within seven (7) business days of the Promoter notifying the winner (and verifying details for delivery of the Prize). Prizes will be delivered by signed courier to the prize winner’s address. Winners will have until 30/06/2025 by SGT 5:00pm to claim their prizes. The winners’ list for each Promotion Draw will be publicised on www.rdasia.com/competitions the day after each draw.

10. The total prize pool for the Promotion is TOTAL WORTH of USD 10,000 in jewellery. The value of prizes is accurate as at the date of printing and based on the USD recommended retail prices (including applicable taxes) as at the date of printing. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of any prize after that date. Prizes must be taken as offered, and are not transferable or exchangeable by the winner.

11. The Promoter retains the right to substitute any Prize (or a part of any Prize) with a prize or prizes of equal or greater value (including where a Prize is unavailable), subject to local laws and any regulatory approvals where relevant (prize substitution is not applicable to Hong Kong). Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clause, if for any reason a winner does not accept or take delivery of the Prize for any reason then the Prize will be forfeited.

12. The Promoter’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into, including in the event of a dispute.

13. The Promoter and its associated agencies or companies accept no responsibility for any lost or misdirected orders or entries.

14. Any entry that is lodged by automatic, repetitive, robotic, programmed or similar entry methods or agents, including the use of a competition entry service (as determined in the absolute discretion of the Promoter) will be void.

15. If for any reason the Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of running as planned due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right in its discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to: (a) modify suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion as appropriate, subject to regulatory approval where relevant (cancellation/modification/termination is not applicable to Hong Kong); (b) disqualify any entrant.

16. Printing and other quality control errors will not invalidate an otherwise valid entry or prize claim.

17. The Promoter has no control over Internet or mobile telephone communications, network lines, bugs, viruses and server problems and accepts no responsibility for any problems associated with them, for any reason.

18. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax liability incurred as a result of entering and participating in the Promotion. Any tax liability arising as a result of accepting any Prize is the responsibility of the winner.

19. Any cost associated with entering the Promotion including accessing any promotional website is the entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the internet service provider used. All entries phone calls are to be made to the phone number specified on the promotional material. Any phone charges from landline or mobile phone shall be borne by the entrant.

20. Entrants consent (except to the extent that the entrant may otherwise notify to the Promoter) to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.
